Lose a few pounds for big health rewards.

Maybe you need to lose 10, 20, or 50 pounds or more and your health is hurting because of it. Carrying around extra weight takes a toll on health. After all, obesity puts you at risk for type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, certain cancers, fatty liver disease, stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease to name a few. Your doctor has been encouraging you to lose weight, and you know that if you did it, your health would improve. What you don’t know is that losing just a few pounds could make a big difference in your health.

Health experts report that losing just five percent of your total body weight is enough to radically improve your health. For a 200-pound person, that’s only 10 pounds. And you can lose that much weight with ease! Here’s what could happen to your health if you put in the effort to make it happen.

Relieve Joint Pain

Walking up and down stairs, standing for long periods, or even walking to the mailbox can be painful when doing it with excessive weight. Carrying around extra pounds puts strain and pressure on your joints, wears them out faster, and increases your risk of osteoarthritis. Being just 10 pounds overweight adds an estimated 40 pounds of pressure on your lower body joints. Losing that 10 pounds will bring pain relief and lower your chances of osteoarthritis by 50 percent!
